Job summary

Northwell Health in New York State seeks a Doctor of Physical Therapy to evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician prescriptions, while maintaining complete medical records.

You will design and implement individualized treatment plans, document progress, and participate in inter-professional rounds and quality improvement activities in a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in New York State, required (or eligible for limited permit in outpatient settings).
• 0–3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers direct patient care in accordance with the physician's prescription.
• Uses evaluation techniques with efficiency and thoroughness.
• Designs a treatment program to achieve established goals.
• Observes patient tolerance/status and adjusts treatment as needed.
• Follows department emergency procedures for patient safety.

Evaluates and treats patients with disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases using physical, chemical and mechanical means in accordance with the written and signed prescription and/or referral of a state licensed physician or authorized practitioner. Maintains complete medical records for each patient.

Job Responsibility

1. 1.Administers direct patient care in accordance with the written and signed prescription of the referring physician or other State authorized practitioner.
2. 2.Utilizes appropriate evaluation techniques with efficiency and thoroughness.
3. 3.Designs a treatment program to achieve established goals.
4. 4.Makes accurate observations of patient tolerance and/or status during treatment and demonstrates the ability to modify a treatment program as needed.
5. 5.Responds appropriately to established department emergency procedures for patient safety and care, when necessary.
6. 6.Submits required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department.
7. 7.Participates in quality improvement chart reviews and activities.
8. 8.Attends family meetings/conferences and interacts with members of inter-disciplinary staff pertaining to the welfare and management of assigned patients.

Job Qualification

1. 1.Doctoral Degreein Physical Therapy required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
2. 2.Current License to practice as a Physical Therapist in New York State, required.
   OR
   Current limited permit to practice as a Physical Therapist in New York State, required (applicable to outpatient settings only).Specialized certifications, as needed.
   OR
   Eligible for the NYS 90-day post-doctoral graduation practice exemption under direct on-site supervision. All state filings for the Limited Permit must be completed prior to hire, with a current Permit or License to practice as a Physical Therapist in New York State required before the 90-day exemption period expires.
3. 3.0-3 years of relevant experience, required.
