Job summary

OAA Orthopaedic Specialists in Allentown, PA is seeking a Per Diem Physical Therapist Assistant to provide high-quality care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Part-time schedule may be considered for the right candidate.

The PTA will administer physical therapy treatments, assist with devices, and collaborate with the therapy team to evaluate patient progress and plan care. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, and prior experience is helpful but not required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a two-year college or equivalent.
• Minimum of one to three months related experience.
• Will train new graduates.

Responsibilities

• Administers active and passive manual techniques.
• Instructs, motivates and assists patients to learn and improve functional activity.
• Observes patients during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports to the Physical Therapist.
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in use and care of orthopaedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Confers with Physical Therapy staff to evaluate patient information and coordinate treatment programs.
• Provides orientation to new Physical Therapy Assistants.
• Directs and offers instruction to Physical Therapy Aides.
• Performs clerical duties including inventory, ordering supplies, answering phone, taking messages, and completing forms.
• Measures patient’s range-of-joint motion, length, and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments.
