Job summary

Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for a per diem role in our Pharmacy Department. The technician will assist the pharmacist with dispensing and sterile compounding, maintain inventory, and ensure accurate patient records under direct supervision.

The ideal candidate has CT registration or intern license, PTCB certification, and 1 year of institutional pharmacy experience (3–4 years preferred).

Qualifications

• CT Pharmacy Technician Registration required at hire or within 2 weeks.
• National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
• PTCB certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college preferred.
• One year institutional pharmacy technician experience required; three to four years preferred.
• Valid Connecticut driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Fills physician orders, medication carts, Pyxis stations, and/or stock requisitions accurately.
• Replenishes medications in emergency crash carts or floor stock areas accurately.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products accurately.
• Delivers medications and supplies to all patient care and satellite areas throughout the organization per established schedule.
• Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.
