Hands At Home Care Services in Maine is seeking a Per Diem PSS (Personal Support Specialist) to provide non-medical home care with flexible shifts. You choose your schedule and may travel to multiple client locations, with mileage reimbursement and weekly pay options.

Qualifications

• At least one year of caregiving experience preferred.
• PSS Certification; we will help in getting it if needed.
• Experience in home care, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Reliable transportation preferred.
• Able to pass a background screening.
• Able to assist clients with mobility and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Immunization records (MMR, Varicella, annual flu) current.

Responsibilities

Many of our clients are just starting services, and we need dependable caregivers to help get them off the ground and stable. Once that happens, we’ll transition a permanent caregiver into the role.

• Want to stay with the client permanently? You’ll have the option to do so.

• Prefer to stay flexible and per diem? That works too.

We simply ask for a short-term commitment to help the client adjust and get the care they need at the beginning.

What You'll Do

As a Personal Support Specialist, you will assist clients with a variety of non-medical home care services, including:

• Personal care assistance
• Mobility support and transfers
• Meal preparation
• Light housekeeping
• Companionship and social engagement
• Transportation assistance
• Temporary coverage for clients when their regular caregiver is unavailable.

Schedule Expectations

• Friday 4pm -8pm
  Saturday is broken up into 2 shifts 8am-1pm and 4pm-8pm
  Sunday is broken up into 2 shifts 8am-1pm and 4pm-8pm

• Additional hours may be available based on client needs
• Major holidays generally observed, with optional holiday shifts available

Travel Requirements

This position serves clients throughout Portland and nearby communities.

Applicants should be comfortable traveling within the service area and supporting multiple client locations as needed. Mileage reimbursement is provided for eligible travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least one year of caregiving experience preferred
• PSS Certified (No Certificate? No worries we will help you in getting your PSS)
• Experience in home care, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Reliable transportation preferred
• Ability to successfully pass a background screening
• Ability to safely assist clients with mobility and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
• Current immunization documentation, including MMR, Varicella, and annual influenza vaccination records
