Boston Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive evaluations and therapy in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including some telehealth. Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Per Diem Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. Provides speech, language, feeding and swallowing evaluations and therapy, including pediatric modified barium swallow studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). Works in outpatient and inpatient settings, predominantly in person with some telehealth. Requires weekend coverage. Includes documentation, care coordination, collaboration with medical team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with disorders of swallowing, communication, voice and cognition.
  • Plan and implement individual/group speech-language pathology treatments to maximize independence.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to arrange appropriate follow‑up care and facilitate successful return to home and work.
  • Provide student training per departmental guidelines and participate in continuous education.
  • Assist in interdisciplinary research.
  • Perform evaluation procedures per professional and departmental guidelines.
  • Establish treatment goals and plans that meet patient needs and reimbursement requirements.
  • Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and comply with departmental, institutional and accrediting agency policies.
  • Show ongoing professional growth and knowledge of regulations and standards.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of speech‑language pathology programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to provide high‑quality patient care.
  • Orient medical staff and community to speech‑language pathology; supervise students.
  • Utilize hospital values to guide decision‑making.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures.
  • Provide inpatient coverage and weekend duty as rotating once trained.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current Massachusetts license as a Speech‑Language Pathologist.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current ASHA membership preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families and healthcare team.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate patient condition and develop treatment programs.
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedule.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
