Job summary

Albertina Kerr Centers in Portland, OR is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care to children in the Subacute program. The role requires a BSN and Oregon licensure to act as LCESIS, with duties including admission, medications, and crisis response.

This per diem position may require working all shifts and includes collaboration with psychiatrists and program staff to ensure safe, high-quality care for children and families.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oregon.
• BSN required; Nurses will be trained/licensed by the state to act as LCESIS.
• Mental health experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete the medical admission process.
• Provide routine healthcare, basic triage and emergency care including assessment and documentation of injuries.
• Oversee restraints and seclusions as LCESIS and assist with interventions during crises.
• Manage children’s medications with safe administration practices.
• Serve as a nursing resource to children and families and provide health education.
• Prepare discharge prescriptions and obtain psychiatrist signature prior to discharge; provide discharge instructions.
• Perform phlebotomy services.
• Complete medication cart audits per policy.
• Assist line staff by supervising children to maintain milieu safety and support unit activities.
• Administer tuberculin skin tests for new employees.
• This position may include working other shifts as needed.
