Job summary

Optum, in strategic partnership with Allina Health, seeks an on-site patient registration professional in Hastings, MN. You will greet patients, collect demographics, verify insurance, and guide patients to appointments, while assisting with scheduling and forms.

The role supports health equity via efficient administrative workflows. Responsibilities include handling co-pays, verifying benefits, and entering data into the EMR.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service in an office or hospital setting.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work Per Diem across 1st-3rd shifts.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Willingness to work at least 1 shift every two weeks.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: Responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person. Provides a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and enter information into an electronic medical record.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets and welcomes patient in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in or interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results
• Obtains signatures from patients as needed
• Collects co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs available. Refers complex questions as needed
• Uses resources, tools, and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
• Assist patients in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department
• May gather medical record information from all departments for collection

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work on a Per Diem basis, within 1st shift, 2nd shift, or 3rd shift
• Ability to work minimum of 1 shift every two weeks
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday-Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications:

• Revenue cycle experience
• General office experience
• Flexibility to occasionally work other shifts as business requires
