Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a PRN Clinical Lab Technologist to join our microbiology team at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. This per diem/PRN role will offer weekend coverage with hours as needed between 5:30AM–4:00PM.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science and MLS or equivalent experience, with preferred microbiology MLS experience and platereading/gram-staining skills. ASCP/AMT certs are a plus.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of clinical microbiology MLS experience
• 1 year or more plate reading and gram staining experience
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
