Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivering high-quality care to psychiatric patients and supporting care plans within a multidisciplinary team.

The role may require floating to other psychiatric units, with 12-hour day/night rotating shifts including weekends and holidays, and a strong emphasis on HIPAA, safety procedures, and patient engagement.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting or equivalent.
• California Psychiatric Technician Licensure required.
• BLS required.
• Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group activities to psychiatric patients on an acute psychiatric inpatient unit.
• Knowledge of psychological functioning and deviations from normal.
• Knowledge of growth and development throughout the life span.
• Knowledge of techniques of therapeutic communication.
• Knowledge of drug administration.
• Knowledge of management of assaultive behavior.
• HIPAA procedures and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Licensed Psychiatric Technician will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to psychiatric patients.
• Implement and evaluate care plans; perform assigned tasks; support patient well-being.
