Job summary

Aston Group in a healthcare setting seeks a food service assistant to prepare and serve meals to patients, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements and allergies are respected. You will assist with salad, hot and cold foods, and bakery preparation as part of a broader dining service team.

You will assemble trays, maintain clean work areas, and coordinate with laundry for napkins and tray liners, while collecting and returning used dishes and garbage as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items such as fruits, vegetables and meats by cutting, dicing and slicing them
• Assist in preparing dishes for patients following instructions for each patient
• Put together meals for patients keeping in mind allowed nutritional values
• Follow instructions for meal preparations for patients with food allergies and make sure to omit any ingredient that may cause gastronomical trouble
• Prepare food trays with items such as plates, flatware, napkins, and condiments
• Apportion food items correctly and following accompanying diet lists
• Place trays in pushcarts and physically push them through facility to assigned floors
• Serve trays to patients by placing them on tables and assisting them in partaking of their food
• Places items, such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays
• Collect food trays and dirty dishes and cart them back to the kitchen for washing
• Assist in washing and drying dishware, glassware, and flatware
• Coordinate with laundry services to ensure that clean napkins and tray liners are available constantly
• May record amount and types of special food items served to patients
• Handle kitchen garbage disposal activities by placing trash in appropriate receptacles

Job description

Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in a healthcare environment.
