Job summary

Northwell Health seeks a Creative Arts Therapist to lead the Creative Arts/Recreational Therapy Services staff. You will plan, implement, and evaluate activities to support patients' social, psychological well-being and leisure lifestyles.

You will supervise staff, coordinate patient services, participate in budgets, and develop programs aligned with the department's mission. Per diem schedule with varied days and shifts, located in New York.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy required.
• New York State licensed Creative Arts Therapist required.
• 6–8 years of technical experience and 2–5 years of leadership/management experience.
• Prefer inpatient population.
• Specialized certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership to Creative Arts/Recreational Therapy team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
• Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with system.
• Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
• Coordinates the scheduling of patient services for Creative Arts/Recreational Therapy patients.
• Manages creative arts therapy, psycho/social therapy and counseling; fosters creativity, socialization, and health.
• Participates in annual budget process for staff, equipment and supplies.
• Participates in development of departmental policies and procedures.
• Develops clinical programs aligned with the department mission.
• Plans and provides educational creative arts activities; assists patients in acquiring leisure skills and community adjustment.
• Monitors and improves productivity of services to ensure quality of care.
• Maintains department statistics; inspects equipment/supplies and initiates repairs.
