Job summary

Calibr-Skaggs Institute for Innovative Medicines, a division of Scripps Research, seeks an experienced Peptide Chemist to join its San Diego lab. The successful candidate will design and synthesize peptide analogs to enhance potency, stability, PK, and in vivo efficacy, with emphasis on long-acting injectable formats.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience, or a Bachelor's with 10+ years.
• PhD and/or postdoc in chemical or biological sciences focusing on peptide chemistry preferred.
• 1–4 years of academia or biotech/pharma experience.
• Skilled in contemporary peptide synthesis techniques and analytical peptide/protein characterization.

Responsibilities

• Lead peptide drug discovery and development efforts, advancing long-acting peptides and peptide conjugates to viable clinical candidates.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team to rapidly identify development compounds and drive projects through preclinical gates.
• Apply medicinal chemistry and formulation principles to optimize peptide candidates for extended-duration dosing.
