Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking full-time General Service Technicians to join Team Mavis in the Elgin, IL area. We offer paid training, competitive weekly pay, and a weekly incentive plus a new hire bonus of $800.

No prior automotive experience is required; training is provided to help you grow within the nation’s largest automotive service organization. Responsibilities include tire mounting/dismounting, oil changes, fluid checks, basic maintenance, and safety inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 18+ years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Punctual, reliable and willing to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Responsibilities

• Dismounting, mounting, rotating, and balancing tires.
• Performing flat tire repairs and oil/filtration changes.
• Check and top off fluids; basic vehicle maintenance.
• Identify maintenance issues and safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure quality service.
• Assist customers and teammates to complete work timely.

About the General Service Technician Position

As a General Service Technician, you'll perform essential maintenance and tire services that help keep our customers safely on the road. You'll work alongside experienced automotive professionals while developing valuable hands-on skills.

Responsibilities include:

• Dismounting, mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Performing flat tire repairs
• Completing oil and filter changes
• Checking and topping off vehicle fluids
• Performing basic vehicle maintenance and inspections
• Identifying visible tire and maintenance concerns
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Following established safety and service procedures
• Helping ensure quality service and timely completion of customer vehicles

Qualifications

To be eligible for the General Service Technician position, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Be reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on automotive environment
• Have a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality service

Previous automotive experience is a plus, but not required. Paid training is provided.

Physical Requirements

General Service Technicians must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive and tire service. Technicians must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
