Pep Boys / Mavis Tire is hiring experienced Automotive Mechanics for our Hackettstown, NJ area locations. Join the nation’s largest automotive service organization with 4,000+ locations and strong career growth opportunities.

As an Automotive Mechanic you will inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles, including brakes, oil changes, tire services, and inspections, while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. This role offers weekly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years automotive repair experience or training.
• Own personal automotive tools required.
• Authorized to work in the United States for full-time employment.
• Preferred ASE certifications (G1, A4, A5) for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Perform undercar repairs including brakes, shocks, suspension and steering.
• Diagnose vehicle maintenance and repair needs.
• Oil and filter changes and fluids check.
• Replace worn or damaged parts as needed.
• Complete state inspections where applicable.
• Mount, rotate and balance tires.
• Maintain Mavis standards for quality and safety.

We're looking for experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at our automotive service, repair, and tire sales centers in the Hackettstown, NJ area.

About the Position

As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive maintenance and repair services to help keep our customers safely on the road.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension, and steering
• Diagnosing vehicle maintenance and repair needs
• Performing oil and filter changes and checking fluids
• Replacing worn or damaged parts
• Completing state inspections, where applicable
• Mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Maintaining Mavis standards for quality, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Have at least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Have the personal tools necessary to perform automotive and undercar repairs

Preferred:

State inspection license(s) and ASE Certifications, including Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Physical Requirements

Automotive Mechanics must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive repair. Mechanics must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
