Job summary

Pep Boys / Mavis Tire is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic in the State College, PA area. You will inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of maintenance and repair services to keep customers safely on the road.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience
• Ability to diagnose vehicle issues and perform repairs
• Own your tools and be prepared for hands-on work

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose vehicles and perform maintenance and repairs as needed
• Perform undercar repairs including brakes, suspensions, and steering
• Change oil and filters, check fluids, and replace worn parts
• Mount, rotate, and balance tires as required
• Conduct state inspections where applicable
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and customer service

We're looking for experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at our automotive service, repair, and tire sales centers in the State College, PA area.

About the Position

As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive maintenance and repair services to help keep our customers safely on the road.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension, and steering
• Diagnosing vehicle maintenance and repair needs
• Performing oil and filter changes and checking fluids
• Replacing worn or damaged parts
• Completing state inspections, where applicable
• Mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Maintaining Mavis standards for quality, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Have at least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Have the personal tools necessary to perform automotive and undercar repairs

Preferred:

State inspection license(s) and ASE Certifications, including Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Physical Requirements

Automotive Mechanics must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive repair. Mechanics must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
