Job summary

TaxRise in Irvine, CA is hiring a People Operations Generalist to be the first point of contact for employees and managers. You’ll own employee relations, handle sensitive matters with discretion, and build programs that scale as we grow.

This 100% on-site role collaborates across teams to support a thriving workplace culture. We expect 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, at least 1 year in employee relations, leave and investigations, and solid knowledge of employment law; PH R or SHRM

• Coach managers through performance, attendance, and difficult conversations
• Administer leaves of absence and accommodations under FMLA, ADA, and state/local law
• Build and maintain leave and employee relations dashboards
• Conduct exit interviews and report turnover trends to leadership
• Champion TaxRise values and drive engagement surveys and action plans
• Maintain and update the employee handbook and manager training

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our People Operations Generalist, you’ll be the first person employees and managers turn to for guidance. You’ll handle sensitive situations fairly, build the tracking and programs that keep us consistent as we grow, and help managers lead with confidence.

HOW YOU'LL BE REWARDED

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 per year in base salary, plus a 5% bonus opportunity paid quarterly

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Be the day-to-day People partner for employees and managers across departments, and own employeerelations from intake to resolution, escalating to People Leadership when a situation calls for it.
• Partner with People Leadership to run thorough, objective and timely investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and failure to accommodate.
• Coach managers through performance, attendance and difficult conversations, from documentation and corrective action to early intervention, and review termination requests with leadership so every separation is fair and defensible.
• Administer leaves of absence and accommodation requests under FMLA, ADA and state and local law, and monitor leave and attendance patterns so protected leave is applied consistently and never counted against employees.
• Build and maintain leave and employee relations dashboards.
• Conduct exit interviews, and report turnover trends and recommendations to leadership.
• Champion TaxRise’s values in every interaction, run engagement and pulse surveys, and follow through with managers so feedback turns into action. Help teams adapt with clarity as we grow and our processes change.
• Keep the handbook and People policies current, and design and deliver new-manager onboarding and people-manager training.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE

• 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, including time in a generalist role
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with employee relations, leave and accommodations, andworkplace investigations
• Working knowledge of employment law, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII and state and localrequirements
• Sound judgment, clear writing and the discretion to handle sensitive matters, including knowing when toescalate
• Comfort coaching managers at every level and holding a firm, fair line

NICE TO HAVE

• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
• Experience building dashboards, with strong Excel or Sheets skills and HRIS reporting
• Experience at a company of 200–500 employees, or with survey platforms
