How You Will Make an Impact

As the People Business Partner for our Operations team, you will serve as a trusted People partner at DC02, our inbound processing distribution center, which runs seven days a week. You will be an active, visible member of the Operations Leadership team and will work closely with leaders to engage and develop our 300+ team members. This role reports to the VP, People, Operations, and leads a People Specialist and a People Coordinator. You will thrive in this role if you enjoy combining business awareness with HR experience, and bring curiosity and a sense of humor.

You are relationship-focused, business-minded, and comfortable getting into the details while keeping the bigger picture in view. You approach decisions with fairness, consistency, and good judgment. You stay steady in ambiguity and balance empathy with accountability, and you know when to listen, when to advise, and when to challenge.

Our team members are the most crucial piece to keeping ThredUp operations humming, and they show up energized and motivated to succeed. Because DC02 runs seven days a week, you may need to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business.

In This Role, You’ll Get To
  • Advise and Coach: Partner with leaders and team members on People programs, policies, performance, and employee relations, ensuring fair and consistent application.
  • Build Trust Through Presence: Develop credibility with the DC02 team by spending time on the floor, understanding the realities of a high-volume inbound operation, and turning feedback into practical action.
  • Drive People Strategies: Partner with Operations and People leaders on retention, engagement, leadership development, talent planning, and other site priorities.
  • Lead the DC02 People Team: Manage, coach, and develop the People Specialist and People Coordinator while setting priorities and ensuring high-quality People support.
  • Solve Problems Proactively: Identify People-related challenges, lead investigations and corrective action processes, and develop effective solutions with business partners.
  • Support Compliance and Operations: Communicate People programs and benefits, maintain People metrics, support workers’ compensation matters, and help ensure compliance with employment and safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • HR Experience: 3+ years of HR business partner experience, ideally in a high-volume or operations-focused environment, with experience supporting engagement, retention, and employee relations.
  • Trusted Adviser: Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build credibility and influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Coach and Developer: Experience coaching hourly employees and first-level leaders, supporting leadership development, and identifying talent.
  • Adaptable Problem-Solver: Comfortable navigating sensitive situations, ambiguity, and pressure with discretion, fairness, empathy, and accountability.
  • Team Leadership: Experience coaching or directing HR support staff, or clear readiness to lead a small People team.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

At ThredUp, our mission has been built on extending the lives of millions of unique clothing items. Much like our inventory, we are proud to have fostered a workplace that is one-of-a-kind.
