Job summary

City Union Mission in Kansas City, MO seeks a Peer Support Specialist to oversee the Center environment and the daily well-being of every client, including meals, hygiene and routines across day and night shifts, including holidays.

You will lead and mentor clients, document observations for the care plan, monitor safety, respond to emergencies, and reflect Biblical hospitality through interactions with guests while supporting program indicators and transitions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentorship and shepherding to clients during assigned shifts and small groups.
• Provide verbal and documented observations to the Care Manager for input on the care plan.
• Monitor hygiene, showers and laundry; lead team groups and teach daily routines.
• Respond to emergencies and deescalate crises as needed.
• Conduct safety checks and engage guests with Biblical hospitality.
• Understand program indicators including capacity, occupancy, service velocity, effectiveness, and transitions.

Job Summary:

The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for the overall environment of the Center and the well-being of every client in the building, ensuring access to essential supports such as meals, hygiene, and a healthy routine during the day, evening, night including the weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide leadership, mentorship and shepherding to the clients during assigned shifts through communication of the center and clients' routine, and during small groups.
• Provide appropriate verbal and documented observations of clients directly to the Care Manager to provide input on the care plan as a key member of our care team.
• Monitor hygiene, shower and laundry routines. Assist in maintaining cleaning by leading team groups, teaching daily cleaning routines and using moments for ministry.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and be prepared to deescalate emotional and spiritual crisis situations.
• Conduct safety checks, rounds and monitor the front entrance to the center; engaging guests and visitors with Biblical hospitality.
• Understand and contribute to key program indicators, including safe capacity, responsible occupancy, service velocity, effectiveness, and graduation or transition to appropriate next steps.
