North Range Behavioral Health in Colorado is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to deliver integrated behavioral health services in primary care settings, guiding clients with recovery-focused coaching and support.

You will collaborate with clinicians, document care in multiple EHR systems, and assist with benefits access, housing, education, and community resources. A person-centered approach and lived experience drive every interaction and outcome.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; reading, writing, and communication skills needed.
• Lived or relational experience with mental health/substance use populations is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to clients under supervision, using recovery-oriented approaches.
• Coordinate with therapists and clinical team to support treatment goals and prevent crises.
• Assist clients with accessing benefits and community resources; link to internal and external supports.
• Support clients in identifying barriers to recovery and building healthy routines.
• Coach clients in practical life and behavioral skills; offer compassionate listening and guidance.
• Promote medication awareness and assist with crisis or recovery planning where appropriate.

Team members provide behavioral health screenings, assessments, case management, and individual or group therapy to individuals who often present with both physical and behavioral health needs. Success in this role requires flexibility, collaboration, and a strong commitment to patient-centered, whole-person care.Services are provided to both scheduled and walk-in clients, balancing brief interventions with more structured therapeutic support. Staff may work across one or more of our seven integrated Sunrise locations and should feel comfortable adapting to evolving program needs. Strong documentation skills are essential, as team members maintain accurate and timely records across multiple electronic health record (EHR) systems while partnering closely with multidisciplinary medical teams.As a Peer Support Specialist, you will create a supportive, empowering environment where clients can identify and pursue their own recovery and resiliency goals. Drawing from your lived experience, you will engage individuals in a peer-to-peer capacity, teaching practical skills and providing encouragement as clients work toward self-identified goals related to social connection, education, housing, benefits, illness management, and overall wellness.
