Job summary

Sheppard Pratt is seeking a direct care professional in Baltimore to provide coaching, support, and advocacy for recovery from substance use and mental health issues, drawing on your lived experience.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement recovery-oriented approaches, facilitate wellness planning, and engage clients using motivational strategies. A high school diploma is required; CPRS certification within one year is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must obtain Maryland CPRS within one year of hire.
  • Must self-identify as in recovery from a serious mental illness or have a recovery from substance abuse.
  • High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating wellness management and recovery with formalized approaches (WRAP/IMR/WHAM).
  • Participate on a multi-disciplinary team and provide consultation in recovery principles and strategies.
  • Utilize assertive engagement techniques including motivational strategies to engage clients.

What to expect.

This is a unique direct care opportunity to provide coaching, support, and advocacy in support of recovery from substance abuse and other mental health issues by sharing your lived experience.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating wellness management and recovery with formalized approaches such as Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Illness Management and Recovery (IMR), or Whole Health Action Management (WHAM).
  • Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and providing consultation in recovery principles and strategies.
  • Utilizing assertive engagement techniques to engage clients including motivational strategies.

What we need from you.

  • A high school diploma, associate degree preferred.
  • Must obtain the Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) within one year of hire.
  • Must self-identify as an individual who is in the process of recovery from a serious mental illness or be in recovery for substance abuse.
  • A full status driver’s license with 3-points or less and access to an insured vehicle.
