Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Peer Support Coordinator and Academic Counselor to lead tutoring and coaching initiatives, supervise staff, and support student success. The role includes mentoring tutors, coordinating training, and managing program budgets while collaborating with faculty to monitor progress and outcomes.

Peer Support Leadership, Supervision, and Management Manage peer support efforts including tutoring, coaching, study sessions, and other initiatives. Facilitate hiring, training, supervision, mentoring, and ongoing support for tutors and coaches. Assess peer support efforts to promote effective resource utilization and student success. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to monitor expenditures, forecast neeeds, ensure compliance with institutional policies, and support strategic resource allocation. Academic Counseling, Academic Advising, and Summer Navigation Work with students on academic probation and warning by conducting regular meetings, monitoring progress, and communicating with faculty to assist student learning and achievement of academic standards. Serve as a Summer Navigator and academic advisor for assigned students, working in various ways to plan their experience and aid their pathway at Calvin. Respond to assigned coordinated care cases to help students navigate hurdles to success and facilitate holistic development. Maintain accurate records to assist in coordinated care and student support. Department Committee, and University Service Collaborate with colleagues to manage department communications, front desk functions, and office functions. Promote a positive work enviroment and champion Calvin strategic priorities. Partner across campus to encourage student learning and support. Represent the department on on committees, task forces, working groups, and across campus as opportunities arise to further department and institutional goals. Develop professionally and share knowledge through various platforms and opportunities.
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities will aid success as the Peer Support Coordinator and Academic Counselor. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field. Experience in academic advising, student success, or related student support roles. Demonstrated experience in student supervision, coaching, and team leadership. Strong knowledge of academic success strategies, retention initiatives, and student development theory. Familiarity with case management systems. (Experience with Salesforce and Workday is ideal.) Experience with budget and people management. Demonstrated commitment to supporting first-generation, underrepresented, and academically underprepared students. Strong communication skills in various formats and platforms. Ability to function in routine office conditions including regular computer usage, movement around campus, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
