Job Description

As a Peer Specialist, you will provide direct mental health services to recipients in various settings including emergency, inpatient, outpatient, community support programs, and residential facilities. Your role involves serving as a role model, educating recipients on self-help techniques and group processes, teaching effective coping strategies, and assisting them in clarifying their rehabilitation and recovery goals. You will help recipients develop support systems and focus on developing self-help skills, support systems, coping strategies, and fostering hope and self-esteem, which are central to recovery from psychiatric disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to empathize with and relate to recipients of mental health services. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of active participation in mental health self-help activities, peer support or advocacy programs, recipient-run organizations, or similar experiences.
