Compass Health Network in Jefferson City is seeking a Peer Specialist for the ACT team. Use your lived recovery experience to empower others and support growth in the community.

This full-time role requires a HS/GED, a valid driver’s license, and completion of state-approved training. You will work within a compassionate, person-centered team delivering ACT/STEPS services 24/7 in home and community settings.

Qualifications

  • Must self-identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorder services
  • Must complete a state-approved training program, pass a standardized examination, complete certification process within 60 days of hire date, and maintain ongoing certification as a Certified Peer Specialist through the MCB (MO). Required only when applicable.
  • A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required

Responsibilities

  • Share personal recovery experiences and model healthy coping strategies
  • Support individuals in building confidence, resilience, and community connections
  • Assist with goal-setting and navigating treatment and support systems
  • Help individuals recognize and build on their own strengths
  • Participate as a valued member of the treatment team
  • Provide transportation support when clinically indicated; driving is an essential function of this position
  • Provide on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime, evening and weekend hours
  • Complete required state training, supervision, and certification processes (if not already certified)

As a Peer Specialist, you'll use your lived experience with behavioral health or substance use recovery to inspire hope, support growth, and walk alongside individuals as they build the life they want. About ACT/ACT TAY/STEPS programs are a way of providing many types of service to people with chronic mental health disorders. ACT/STEPS teams provide services directly to people in their community. People who access ACT/STEPS services receive the wrap-around psychiatric services, but within the comfort of their own home and community. ACT/STEPS team members are comprised of professionals in the areas of psychiatry, social work, nursing, substance use disorders, supported employment, and peer support so they have the skills they need to meet the many needs of the people they serve. The ACT/STEPS team provides these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each day of the year.

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • High School/GED required
