Job summary

Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in Maryland is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist II to support clients with recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders. The role focuses on connecting individuals with housing, employment, education, transportation, and community resources to promote sustainable recovery.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in English with additional languages considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: One year of experience providing peer recovery support services.
• MAPCB certification must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer recovery support to clients with substance use or mental health disorders.
• Promote healthy behaviors and connect clients with housing, employment, education, and other resources.
• Encourage clients to take empowering actions toward recovery.
