Job summary

AccessCNY, Inc. is seeking a proactive Peer Support Specialist in Syracuse to provide recovery-oriented services to participants of Unique Peerspectives.

The role involves engaging individuals, documenting progress, and collaborating with the Program Manager to ensure smooth program operations. The position requires a High School diploma or GED and a managed mental-health journey with at least 1 year of recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Applicant must have a psychiatric disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, be in recovery for at least 1 year, and be willing to share personal experiences about their mental health journey.
• OMH-endorsed Peer Credential expected (NYCPS); provisional credentialing within 6 months if NYCPS not held.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery support services to Unique Peerspectives participants.
• Engage peers to identify barriers to recovery and develop strategies.
• Balance time between individual services, groups, and modeling healthy relationships in living spaces.
• Assist in referral processes and document progress in recovery/service plans.
• Promote advocacy, rights education, and community connections.
• Maintain documentation per agency standards and track outcomes.
