Job summary

Dallas College is seeking a Peer Mentor Ambassador for on-site work to support prospective students through campus tours, events, and the college selection process. You will provide information on admissions, financial aid, and campus resources, assist with FAFSA/TASFA and Apply Texas applications, and help plan New Student Orientation with coordination across departments.

Work Location

All positions are considered on-site roles. After six months of employment, some positions may be eligible to apply for a hybrid work arrangement based on job responsibilities, operational needs, supervisor approval, and Dallas College policy. Academic (Faculty) positions require an on-campus presence, even when teaching online courses, in accordance with state law.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on role; peer mentor ambassadors must be able to get involved in all aspects of event execution, including set-up, tear-down, and other physical tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting campus tours and campus events from start to finish.
• Provide essential information to prospective students about higher education, including the college selection process, the application process, and financial aid options.
• Provide information to high school students about academic and career options.
• Provide information to high school students about Dallas College student success and instructional departments that support: the application processes, financial aid options, and campus resources.
• Assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).
• Assist students in completing the Apply Texas application.
• Assist with the planning, preparation and execution of New Student Orientation events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements for Peer Mentor Ambassadors

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• Be classified by Dallas College as a Texas resident.
• Be registered with Selective Service or be exempt.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
• Be enrolled and certified in at least six hours (half time) for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, in a plan leading to a degree or certification.
• Not have any prior institutional balance or blocks.
• Not be a recipient of an athletic scholarship during any semester the student is awarded WSMP funds.
• Not be enrolled in a seminary or other program leading to ordination or licensure to preach for a religious sect or to be a member of a religious order.
• Do not owe back child support obligation to the State.
