  • Forklift certification/experience preferred; bucket truck experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot and adjust the Mixer machine following procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and visual inspections of the mixer and press area.
  • Verify orders and confirm EPDM formulas; gather materials and weigh ingredients.
  • Operate mixer, scale, press, mold lift, hoists, and polymer system; clean per SOP.
  • Enter production data and work orders at a computer workstation.
  • Maintain safety and quality through adherence to guidelines and daily housekeeping.
  • Cross-train into other job functions as needed and participate in meetings.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Mixer Machine and supplying good, quality product with the ability to meet deadlines in a safe manner. Additional responsibilities will include: assistance with creating SOP and other production related documentation, inventory data-entry and cross-training into other job functions as needed. This position requires routine attendance to departmental, production, safety and Company meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

E 45%: Set-up, operate, troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to the Mixer machine following established procedures and guidelines with minimal supervision to mix/mold material.

  • Conduct a visual inspection and perform general preventive maintenance of the mixer and press area
  • Review order and verify all EPDM & formulas are correct/match
  • Gather all necessary materials
  • Read/review formula, weigh out materials and place in auger
  • Pump oil & water as necessary per formula specifications
  • Operate the Mixer control panel
  • Wait required time for mixture to complete
  • Pour mixture into mold
  • Using chain crane, place lid on mold
  • Using hydraulic press, press mold to proper length

Operate (Mixer, Scale, Press, Mold Lift, Hoists, and Polymer System); Clean as per manufacture specification and SOP

E 18%: Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines. Continually check product for quality throughout the manufacturing process.

E 10%: Operate hoist, hydraulic press, bucket truck and fork truck to lift/transport raw materials and finished products while adhering to all power industrial equipment rules and safety requirements

E 10%: Maintain clean work environment by wiping down machine and cleaning work area with air hose after each order; operate grinding machine as necessary; maintain machine as required and reporting any maintenance issues immediately to supervisor and maintenance department

E 5%: Transfer and separate EPDM bags per mold specification; open bags and pour into hopper

E 5%: Utilize computer at workstation to login, enter/review production data and work orders as required

E 5%: Provides constant communication with the management staff concerning the production status of high-end quality oriented materials

E 2%: Cross-train into other job functions providing assistance as necessary within the department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • High School Diploma/GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience required
  • English fluency (read, write, speak); ability to communicate well (written/verbal)
  • Forklift certification/experience desired; bucket truck experience preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience required; Previous machine specific experience preferred
  • Proven ability to multitask in a stressful environment (dirty, confined spaces, strict timelines, etc.), attention to detail, and adapt to changing demands
  • Read and understand units of measure
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Demonstrated comfort with data entry and basic computer skills; ERP experience preferred
  • Must be safety conscious and carry out work responsibilities in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work overtime to meet operational requirements
  • Able to safely perform related physical requirements/demands of the role

  • Manufacturing Environment: This position may operate in a manufacturing setting with conditions of high-pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous gas/chemical fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, exposure to dangerous machinery, dirty work environment and/or exposure to dust (pigment). The position is required to wear PPE including, but not limited to safety glasses, steel toe/composite boots and earplugs.
