OVERVIEW: The core mission of Southeastern College is to provide quality career education and skill development to aspiring individuals pursuing a career, or advancement in their chosen field.

BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS: Faculty are responsible for leveraging their expertise to deliver education services to students through:

  1. Facilitating student learning, professional development, and engagement.
  2. Working one-on-one with students.
  3. Utilizing a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies to enhance early intervention for students demonstrating academic need.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prepare Course Plans and Materials: Review the Course Control Document (CCD), prepare the course syllabus based on the CCD to meet the course objectives, create lesson plans, create exams, quizzes, and projects/assignments utilizing available technology and educational resources, actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, collaborate with nursing faculty members to identify resources, and coordinate with the librarian and bookstore for availability of those materials.
  2. Deliver Courses: Maintain professional standards of practice in nursing education, meet departmental standards for classroom management, teach didactic, lab, and clinical classes as needed, guide class discussions, administer pre-test and post-tests, maintain rigor in grading, incorporate a variety of teaching methods, and provide progress reports/mid-term feedback.
  3. Simulation: Collaborate with faculty in the integration and implementation of simulation activities, maintain equipment, supplies and manikins, integrate technology into evidence-based scenarios, collect, evaluate and trend simulation performance data.
  4. Monitor Progress/Attendance: Monitor student progress, take daily attendance, follow-up with students who miss a class, report attendance and progress issues to the Nursing Program Director and Dean of Academics.
  5. Advise Students: Be available for student advisement, provide coaching and counseling, post office hours, and be on-site during those posted times.
  6. Record Grades and Submit Reports: Maintain grade books, adhere to departmental grading policies, provide weekly reports to the Nursing Program Director, and submit final grades on time.
  7. Other Duties: Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies, maintain classrooms/labs, maintain relevant licensures, mentor new faculty, participate in policy development, pursue professional development opportunities, and attend faculty meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a current, unencumbered State license as a RN or Compact State RN license valid for practice and teaching in S. Carolina.
  2. MSN or higher nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  3. Minimum of four years nursing practical work experience.
  4. Minimum two years clinical experience as a registered or advanced practice nurse.
  5. Experience utilizing, instructing, and monitoring simulation activities.
  6. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  8. Must interact in a professional manner with students, peers, and community.
  9. Participate in professional development meeting at minimum State continuing education requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting, higher education-teaching environment, community agencies, and healthcare facilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Professional office setting: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate. Travel is required for clinical assignments to community agencies and healthcare facilities.

LOCATION: This position is an onsite position located at your campus unless otherwise determined by the Executive Director and/or designee.

-Knowledge: All Faculty must have the minimum level of education required and relevant expertise within their specific discipline related to the program or specific courses they teach.

-Skills: Classroom Management – communicating with and facilitating discussions among a diverse range of non-traditional students.

-Experience: Experience in an academic environment, particularly in a career college environment, is of great importance.
