This position will primarily provide outpatient clinical care and inpatient consultation at the Woodlands campus, with approximately seven half-day outpatient sessions per week, one half-day procedure

Qualifications

  • Active American Board of Pediatric certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology.
  • Eligible for licensure by the Texas Medical Board.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient pediatric GI services with seven half-day sessions weekly.
  • Conduct one half-day procedure session.
  • In-patient and emergency department consultations (1:7 coverage).
  • Participate in multidisciplinary IBD care initiatives.

Texas Children's Hospital | The Woodlands

Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands is a tertiary care community-based hospital. The team consists of 7 full time MD/DO clinicians and 1 full time APP who provide outpatient and inpatient clinical care primarily at The Woodlands campus. GI outpatient care is provided in the ambulatory clinic building with >30 other subspecialty services. This is a busy GI clinic with comprehensive nursing and administrative support and averages >700 patient visits per month. Dedicated GI Registered Dietitians, hospital-based Infusion Center and Radiology Department including Interventional Radiology all support the needs of outpatient care. GI faculty lead and participate in several multidisciplinary clinics that interdigitate with programs based in The Texas Medical Center including the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program with Pediatric Surgery, Aerodigestive Clinic, Eosinophilic GI Disease Clinic and Multidisciplinary Feeding Clinic. The Woodlands campus has a high volume of GI procedures with an average of 600 GI procedures per year. Procedures include diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies performed in a dedicated procedural suite housed within the hospital operating room and supported by Pediatric Anesthesia. Faculty also frequently participate in complex combination procedures with Pediatric ENT, Surgery and Pulmonology physicians. GI Faculty provides inpatient coverage at the hospital which is comprised of 46 Acute Care beds, 14 NICU beds, 14 PICU beds and 25 EC beds with an average of >3,000 hospital admissions per year. In-patient gastroenterology service is consultative with primary clinical care responsibilities managed by the pediatric hospitalist medicine team.

The Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital is recruiting a pediatric gastroenterologist for an exciting position in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Texas Children's Hospital | The Woodlands located in The Woodlands, TX (https://www.visitthewoodlands.com/).

This position will primarily provide out-patient clinical care, and in-patient consultation at the Texas Children's Hospital Woodlands Campus. Responsibilities may include an active out-patient program with approximately 7 half-day sessions per week, one half-day procedure session and currently 1:7 coverage of the in-patient and emergency room consultation services. The ideal candidate would have an interest in participating in multidisciplinary IBD care.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have active American Board of Pediatric certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology, be eligible for licensure by the Texas Medical Board and have US Citizenship or a relevant approved work visa. This position is open at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics.
