Job summary

CHILDREN'S HEALTH OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA in Saratoga, CA seeks a Recreational Therapist / Activities Director to oversee pediatric therapeutic recreation services. You will assess patient needs, deliver group and 1:1 sessions, and lead the Activities Department by supervising Activity Assistants, managing the volunteer program, and coordinating with the IDT and Zarcone School.

Qualifications

• - Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy and CTRS; must meet California Title 22 requirements.
• - BLS Certification.
• - 1 year experience with children in healthcare, daycare, or educational setting; medically fragile preferred.

Responsibilities

• - Organize daily activities at CHONC Subacute Pediatric Hospital.
• - Assess patient needs, document engagement, and evaluate activities with clear therapeutic goals.
• - Facilitate individualized sessions to strengthen developmental, motor, and cognitive skills.
• - Oversee Activity Assistants and manage the volunteer program.
• - Coordinate with IDT and Zarcone School; maintain department administration.
• - Plan daily/monthly activity calendars and special events.
• - Write measurable objectives for each patient.
• - Ensure safety, equipment, and organized Dayroom/ Rehab spaces.
