Job summary

Shriners Children's in Portland, OR, seeks a full-time Pediatric RN to coordinate nursing care, educate patients and families, and manage transitions of care. The RN will practice within the hospital's FOCUSED model, leading with mentorship, collaboration, and evidence-based care.

Required: RN license in state of practice, BLS, and ability to obtain PEAR, PALS, ACLS within 1 year. Preferred BSN and at least 2 years of acute care nursing experience.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • PEAR, PALS, ACLS to obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • BSN preferred.
  • 2 years Acute Care Nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose by collecting and analyzing assessment data.
  • Identify expected outcomes and develop a care plan addressing health promotion/restoration.
  • Coordinate delivery of care and implement the plan.
  • Provide health teaching and health promotion to patients and families.
  • Incorporate evidence and research findings into practice.

Please click here to learn more about our locations.Job DescriptionThe registered professional nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.
