Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for patients from neonatal to geriatric.

Required are an Associate's degree, state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC RRT certification, and BLS; ACLS within 90 days of hire. The role includes education of patients and coworkers and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and coworkers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides age-appropriate patient care and maintains privacy and safety.
• Adapts care to the patient population and communication needs.
