Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Children’s Preop/PACU RN I to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Children’s ASU and PACU-Group C. Coordinates patient admissions, records, and scheduling, and counsels patients and families on treatment and conditions.

The role requires RN licensure and ability to work in a team, with shifting call subject to department discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments.
• Educates patients and family members on condition, treatment, diet and medications.
• Ensures patient safety at all times.
• Coordinates referrals to services within or outside unit or hospital.
• Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
• Functions as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines.
• Reports issues to supervisor to improve care or operations.
• Participates in committees or projects to improve patient care and service delivery.
