Job summary

Prisma Health seeks a Physician Assistant to work under physician supervision in a hospital-based pediatric setting. The role includes taking health histories, performing exams, ordering tests, interpreting results, and developing treatment plans with medication prescribing within state scope of practice.

Responsibilities also include managing referrals, providing emergency care, and contributing to clinic operations and policy improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant program approved by CAHEA/AMA or equivalent medical body.
• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina.
• BLS certification.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions/diseases; excellent communication.
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, CAQ in EM - Preferred (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Performs health histories, physical exams, individual and group health education.
• Orders diagnostic tests with physician approval.
• Interprets findings, diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribing medications as allowed.
• Refers complex cases to supervising physician.
• Provides emergency care as needed and supports policy implementation.
• Supports clinic function through policy development and operational improvements.
