Overview

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a Board‑eligible/Board‑certified Pediatric Physiatrist to join our active, comprehensive, hospital‑based, university‑affiliated pediatric rehabilitation team. The role requires excellent clinical skills, strong organizational and team skills, and a desire to teach.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric physical rehabilitation conditions, including limb deficiency, neuromuscular disease, surgical neuromonitoring, EMG, brachial plexus injury, stroke, torticollis, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spasticity/ITB, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, and wheelchair/seating needs.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care across multiple sites, including consultation, day program, and telemedicine services.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (physiatrists, fellows, nurse practitioners, rehabilitation psychologist, social workers, nurses, therapists) to deliver seamless care.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the ACGME‑approved fellowship training program and contribute to didactic sessions.
• Participate in research, quality improvement, and clinical collaborations, including the adaptive sports program.

Qualifications

• Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Pediatric Physiatry (BE/BC).
• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Strong clinical experience in pediatric rehabilitation preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Employment Requirements

• Seasonal influenza vaccine required for all employees.
• Non‑immune individuals must have vaccination records for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chickenpox (varicella), or tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) since 2005.
