Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus seeks a part-time Patient Care Assistant to support RN-led care in a fast-paced pediatric setting. You will collect data, document vital signs, and contribute to family-centered care that is cost-effective and developmentally appropriate for children.

Responsibilities include collaborating with multiple RNs, assisting in care planning, and maintaining professional communication with patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Option A: completion of a formal nursing assistant program or CNA/MA certification.
• Option B: currently enrolled in a BSN program with one clinical rotation at hire.
• Option C: one year of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and documentation of patient/family data.
• Obtain and document vital signs and notify RN of abnormal findings.
• Collaborate with RNs to prioritize workload based on patient/family needs.
• Assist in identifying patient/family response to care.
• Provide input to the RN for the care plan and updates.
• Maintain accountability for personal development and team learning.
• Demonstrate professional interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Support hospital/unit goals and safety requirements.
