UTHealth Houston's Pediatric Palliative Care APP delivers care across prenatal to young adulthood, collaborating with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, child life specialists, therapists, and subspecialty teams to optimize comfort and quality of life.

The role emphasizes compassionate communication, care coordination, and education of residents and students within an academic health center, with opportunities to support families from diagnosis through bereavement.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas RN licensure for Nurse Practitioner and APRN-NP certification (BLS required).
  • Current Texas licensure as a Physician Assistant and NCCPA certification (BLS required).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive patient care in a clinic/hospital setting under physician supervision.
  • Coordinate and monitor patient plans of care with interdisciplinary team.
  • Order and interpret pertinent labs and imaging as part of patient assessment.
  • Perform physical examinations and episodic/problem-oriented care.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up.
