Job summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking an Orthoptist to administer diagnostic orthoptic tests and provide therapy under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist. The role includes retinoscopy, vision field testing, and developing treatment plans for pediatric and adult patients.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited Orthoptic Fellowship, with AOC board eligibility and progression requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Successful completion of an accredited Orthoptic Fellowship required.
• Candidate must meet all requirements for AOC board eligibility.
• Candidate must sit for applicable portions of the AOC board exams at the first examination opportunity.
• Candidate must pass all required portions of the AOC board exam within a maximum of two attempts.

Responsibilities

• Administer standard orthoptic and ophthalmic tests per physician's order.
• Develop and administer treatment plans for patients with vision disorders.
• Perform diagnostic tests including vision field tests and retinoscopy.
• Provide patient and family instructions during treatment and therapy.
• Schedule examinations, tests, and treatments per established procedures.
• Provide independent evaluation of patients with ocular motility disorders.
• Fit and dispense contact lenses as appropriate.
• Explain procedures to patient and/or family to ensure understanding.
