St. Luke's University Health Network (SLUHN) is seeking BC/BE subspecialty Ophthalmologists fellowship-trained in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Successful candidates will join an established faculty community at the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine and will participate in clinical care, teaching, supervision of trainees and scholarly activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen.
• Provides cost‑effective, high‑quality care based on best practice evidence‑based medicine.
• Follows standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
• Demonstrates competency in assessment and treatment of growth and development and communicates appropriately with patients of all ages.
• Provides regular, timely communication with referring physicians, patients and families.
• Participates in education of patients and families.
• Evaluates and implements patient health care needs.
• Manages patient treatment program based on assessment of needs.
• Initiates treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams and procedures.
• Reviews lab results and plans actions according to results.
• Performs routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
• Coordinates patient care and makes referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, etc., as needed.
• Collaborates and communicates with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care.
• Coordinates patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.
• Teaches wellness habits and educates patients on prevention of potential health problems or methods of dealing with present problems.
• Provides information and materials relating to patient health care needs.
• Maintains knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
• Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity and ensures proper release of information.
• Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Sitting for up to three (3) hours per day; three (3) hours at a time.
• Standing for up to eight (8) hours per day; eight (8) hours at a time.
• Walking for up to six (6) hours per day; one (1) hour at a time.
• Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning as it relates to therapeutic procedures.
• Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds.
• Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds.
• Rarely lift with assistance, up to 100 pounds.
• Rarely push and pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair or stretcher.
• Occasionally stooping and bending.
• Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch.
• Show normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
• Show normal hearing in conversation and high and low frequencies.

Education

Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.

Training and Experience

Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.

License and Certifications

MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the State of practice. Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
