My Recess Therapy in St. Charles, IL seeks a warm Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team.

You will evaluate and treat infants to school-age children focusing on sensory processing, self-regulation, and functional skills, delivering play-based interventions at home, school, and in the clinic. You’ll partner with families and in-house specialists, pursue ongoing mentorship, and have opportunities for specialty training with a $2,500 bonus for advanced training.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and IL license.
• Minimum 2 years pediatric clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of sensory processing and self-regulation.
• Develop and implement play-based treatment plans targeting emotional and sensory regulation, motor and functional skills.
• Provide direct treatment across settings including sensory gym and EI birth–3.
• Partner with parents and caregivers as active team members.
• Coordinate care with pediatricians, EI teams, and school staff.
• Complete documentation timely and accurately.
• Maintain a consistent caseload and participate in team meetings and continuing education.

Job Summary

We are looking for a warm, skilled, and curious Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in St. Charles, IL. This is a generalist pediatric OT role with a strong emphasis on emotional and sensory regulation. You will work with infants, toddlers, and school-age children and their families to evaluate, plan, and deliver play-based intervention that supports sensory processing, self-regulation, motor development, and functional independence at home, at school, and in the community.

You’ll collaborate closely with families and caregivers, our in-house speech and feeding therapists, and outside professionals including pediatricians, early intervention providers, school teams, and other community specialists. There is opportunity to work with early intervention (birth–3) clients.

Therapists with advanced training in oral motor/feeding therapy, infant motor development & oral adhesions (tongue/lip ties), reflex integration, DIR/Floortime, or DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) may be eligible for a $2,500 specialty bonus (see Benefits & Compensation).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations using standardized and clinical assessments of sensory processing, self-regulation, fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor skills, postural control, and activities of daily living.
• Develop & implement individualized, play-based treatment plans that follow the child’s lead and target emotional and sensory regulation, motor skills, and functional participation.
• Provide direct treatment across settings as needed, including our sensory gym and early intervention (birth–3).
• Partner with parents and caregivers as active members of the team — coaching, modeling strategies, and building practical home programs
• Collaborate with in-house therapists and outside professionals (pediatricians, early intervention teams, school staff, other community providers) to coordinate care.
• Complete documentation timely & accurately
• Maintain a consistent caseload and schedule, communicate proactively with families, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
• Participate in team meetings, case consultation, and continuing education.

Required Qualifications

Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy; active Illinois OT license

Minimum 2 years of pediatric clinical experience (private practice, EI, or sensory clinic preferred). New grads with strong pediatric fieldwork considered

Working knowledge of sensory processing and self-regulation frameworks

Strong communication skills; able to build trust with children, parents, and referring professionals

Preferred Skills & Attributes

• Advanced training in oral motor/feeding therapy (e.g., Get Permission, Beckman Oral Motor), infant motor development &/or oral adhesions, reflex integration (e.g., MNRI, Rhythmic Movement Training), DIR/Floortime, or DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) — specialty bonus eligible.
• Experience with Illinois Early Intervention (EI credential or willingness to obtain).
• Training in sensory integration or trauma-informed / relationship-based approaches.
• Knowledge of Tri-Cities and Fox Valley community resources and school systems.
• Comfortable getting messy, being outside, and playing hard, that’s where the magic happens.

Benefits & Compensation

• $72,000–$92,000/year full-time or $50–$64/hour part-time, commensurate with experience.
• $2,500 specialty bonus for therapists with advanced training in oral motor/feeding, infant motor/oral adhesions, reflex integration, DIR, or DMI (paid half at 90 days, half at 6 months).
