Job summary

Arkansas Children's in Arkansas is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide high-level assessment, diagnosis and treatment for pediatric patients and families. This APRN works autonomously in a collaborative practice with physicians across the AC care continuum.

The role requires a Master's Degree and RN license in Arkansas or a compact state, with recommended certifications and about 6 years nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Gathers information for new and established patients: medical history, tests, physical exams, developmental and psychosocial assessments.
• Assesses and identifies patient/family physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural needs.
• Interprets health data and applies findings to direct patient care.
• Provides ongoing care including pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments and patient/family education.
• Documents health data and plans of care according to policy and outcomes.
• Completes billing forms (ICD-9, CPT) per laws and policy.
• Communicates with referring providers and hospital staff as appropriate.
• Participates in quality improvement to improve care delivery and cost effectiveness.
• Disseminates research findings through practice, education, or consultation.
• Participates in AC and professional nursing organizations to maintain expertise.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Description:

• Gathers information for both new and established patients such as medical history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical examination, behavioral, development and psychosocial assessments.
• Assesses and identifies patient/family physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural needs for assigned patient population.
• Accurately interprets health assessment data and applies findings in directing patient care.
• Provides ongoing and follow-up care including appropriate pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments and patient/family education.
• Documents all health data including plan of care and care according to policy, patient/family outcomes, and reassessments and plan modifications.
• Accurately completes all billing forms, including diagnostic (ICD-9) and treatment (CPT) codes, based on federal and state laws and AC policy.
• Communicates with referring physicians, health providers, and hospital staff as appropriate.
• Actively participates in quality improvement activities and the development strategies to improve patient care delivery and cost effectiveness.
• Disseminates relevant research findings through practice, publication, education, and/or consultation.
• Participates in AC, local and national professional nursing organizations as appropriate to maintain and share expertise.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
