Job summary

Inova Children’s and Inova Schar Cancer Institute invite a dedicated Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist to join our Northern Virginia team. This full-time role includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance, with care delivery across outpatient and inpatient settings and active participation in multidisciplinary pediatric oncology care.

You will work with a seasoned team of physicians and advanced practice providers, contribute to clinical teaching, and participate in translational research

Qualifications

• MD from an accredited medical school.
• Board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
• Completed pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology.

Responsibilities

• Provide coordinated multispecialty care for brain tumor and neuro-oncology patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Collaborate with pediatric neurosurgery, radiation, neuro-radiology, research, genetics, palliative care, nutrition, and psychosocial teams.
• Participate in inpatient care and teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in pediatric oncology clinical research, including translational studies.

Job description

Inova Children’s and Inova Schar Cancer Institute are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist to join our Inova Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nationally recognized children’s health system and contribute to the continued expansion of comprehensive pediatric specialty care throughout Northern Virginia. This full-time position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Your role includes:

• Deliver coordinated, multispecialty care to patients with brain tumors and other neurologic oncologic conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Participate in multidisciplinary pediatric oncology care with a team that includes pediatric neurosurgery, radiation oncology, neuro-radiology, clinical research, genetic counseling, pediatric palliative care, nutrition, and psychosocial support.
• Participate in the inpatient care team
• Provide clinical teaching and in-service education to medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in pediatric oncology clinical research projects and studies, including translational efforts.
• Our Pediatric Hematology Oncology Practice provides care in several care teams including Leukemia/Lymphoma, Solid Tumor, Neuro-Oncology, Sickle Cell, General Hematology, Adolescent & Young Adult and Long Term Survivorship.
• Our Neuro-Oncologist will join an experienced PA and Nurse Coordinator to provide care for our Neuro-Oncology patients

Our team includes 9 experienced Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology physicians and 9 advanced practice providers who diagnose, manage, and treat all forms of childhood cancers, blood disorders, and bone marrow failure syndromes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
• Board Certification:Board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
• Experience: successful completion of pediatric residency program and successful completion of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship.
• Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start
• Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third‑party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
• Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services
