North Country Healthcare is seeking a Non-Certified Medical Assistant to provide basic clinical and administrative support under supervision. You will assist with patient care, manage daily tasks, and help maintain a welcoming clinic environment in the NH region.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with routine patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms by cleaning and restocking supplies.
  • Record patient information such as vital signs and medical histories.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Assist in operations: phones, workload management, prescriptions, medication samples log, cross-cover with other departments.
  • Provide patients with basic medication and follow-up care instructions.
  • Perform phlebotomy and CLIA-waived testing; observe urine collection; prepare batches for lab.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy; ensure clinic safety protocols.
  • Assist with inventory management by tracking and ordering supplies.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and providers.
  • Obtain prior authorizations.
  • Participate in staff meetings to contribute to a positive clinic environment.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop new clinical skills.
  • Prepare charts including immunizations, discharge summaries, referrals, lab results, VA authorizations, and referral notes.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Non‑Certified Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals. This role involves assisting with patient care, managing office tasks, and maintaining a welcoming environment in the healthcare setting, working under the supervision of certified medical staff. The Non‑Certified Medical Assistant plays a supportive role in ensuring a seamless patient experience and efficient clinic operations, contributing to quality healthcare delivery.

The anticipated hourly range for this position is$18.77/hr - $23.46/hr - $25.34/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's applicable experience, skills, qualifications, and other job‑related factors.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
Licensure:
  • Certification not required; continued education and learning to sit for certification within first year.
  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heart Saver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three‑month grace period after the expiration date.
Skills:
  • Basic clinical and administrative skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Work Experience:
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1. Assist healthcare providers with routine patient examinations and procedures.
  • 2. Prepare examination rooms by cleaning and restocking supplies.
  • 3. Record patient information such as vital signs and medical histories.
  • 4. Schedule patient appointments and manage the patient flow.
  • 5. Assist in operations, including answering phones, managing workload bucket(s), refilling prescriptions, maintaining medication sample(s) log, and cross covering within other departments.
  • 6. Provide patients with basic instructions for medication and follow‑up care based on provider instructions.
  • 7. Performs phlebotomy and other CLIA Waived testing, observe urine collection as well as preparing batch(s) for laboratory.
  • 8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.
  • 9. Ensure compliance with clinic safety protocols and procedures. Assist patients as needed to maintain safety (i.e. Mobility).
  • 10. Assist with inventory management by tracking and ordering supplies.
  • 11. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
  • 12. Obtaining prior authorizations.
  • 13. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a positive clinic environment.
  • 14. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills in clinical care.
  • 15. Chart preparation, including immunizations, discharge summary, continuation of care referrals, lab results, VA authorizations, and notes on referrals.
