Job summary

Einstein Pediatrics in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced, certified Medical Assistant to join our pediatric team. You will provide clinical support to our pediatricians, assist during examinations, administer vaccines, and help maintain a compassionate, family-centered patient experience.

The ideal candidate has CMA certification, CPR, phlebotomy experience, and at least 1 year in a pediatric setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required (associate degree preferred).
  • 1 year experience, preferably in a pediatric medical group practice.
  • Certified medical assistant (CMA) credential.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and prepares them for examinations, obtaining vital signs appropriate for age and visit type.
  • Administers immunizations, injections, capillary labs, respiratory treatments, EKGs, spirometry, and other treatments as directed.
  • Assists providers during in-office procedures, wound care, suture removal, and related tasks.
  • Documents medical history, immunization records, and other clinical data in EMR per protocol.
  • Observes and reports patient conditions or adverse reactions to medications or treatments.

Requirements
KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality clinical support as needed to support efficient daily practice operations. This role requires flexibility, strong teamwork, and the ability to provide excellent patient care and customer service in a clinical setting.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greets patients and prepares them for the provider’s examination by screening patient/parent for appropriate information and obtaining vital signs appropriate for age, gender, and visit type.
  • Performs general clinical care for patients, including administration of immunizations, antibiotic injections, capillary labs, respiratory treatments, EKGs, spirometry testing, and other prescribed treatments under the direction of providers.
  • Prepares equipment and assists providers during various in-office procedures including wound care, suture removal, chemical cauterization, impacted earwax removal, ear piercing, and other clinical procedures.
  • Documents and updates patient medical histories, immunization records, and other clinical documentation in compliance with practice protocols and EMR templates.
  • Observes, records, and promptly reports patient conditions or adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the provider.
  • Provides patient and parent education, resources, and general clinical guidance by telephone or during in-office visits.
  • Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials, ensures cleanliness of clinical spaces, and assists with inventory management and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient medical and financial information in compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND CREDENTIALS:
  • High school diploma/GED required (associate degree preferred)
  • 1 year experience, preferably in a pediatric medical group practice
  • Certified medical assistant
  • CPR certified required
  • Phlebotomy experience required
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Competency in operating medical equipment and instruments to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge required to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Apply and adapt nursing principles, methods, and techniques to deliver effective patient care.
  • Maintain quality control standards, respond calmly in emergencies, interpret and follow protocols, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Hours:
  • M: 9am -5pm
  • T: 8am-4pm
  • W: 9am-5pm
  • Th: 9:30am - 5:30pm
  • F: 9a - 5pm
  • (1) Saturday per month – 8am to 12pm
