Job description

Capital Area Pediatrics is a leading pediatric practice dedicated to providing comprehensive care from birth through adolescence. Serving families across Northern Virginia, we are committed to delivering top-tier services with a focus on personalized support and patient-centered care. We are currently hiring experienced Medical Assistants to join our team at our Falls Church location.

This is a full-time position with hours 8:30AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday.

In this role you will:
  • Review patient records for past medical problems, medication and immunization status, drug allergies, risk factors, and other pertinent information.
  • Interview patients and/or family members for appropriate information and obtain vital statistics indicated for the age, gender, and type of visit.
  • Perform laboratory testing and administer vaccines, analgesics, and nebulization treatments in accordance with established standards and office policy.
  • Observe, document, and report to provider and nursing staff patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.
  • Complete applicable documentation for the patient visit.
  • Conduct basic parent and child education to include anticipatory guidance in accordance with office policy and as delegated by providers and leadership.
  • Role model excellent clinical skills with patients.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously while demonstrating a caring attitude toward patients and family.
  • Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to include maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities to support the needs of the practice and patient families.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA credential required.
  • At least six (6) months of direct patient care experience as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Experience administering immunizations for pediatric patients is strongly preferred.
  • Practical understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC Guidelines.
