Job summary

Deercreekseniorliving in Abilene, Texas is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include following the plan of care, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Furnishes services in accordance with agency policies
• Prepares clinical and progress notes
• Prepares equipment and materials for treatments observing aseptic techniques as required
• Assists the patient, parent, family in learning appropriate self-care techniques as required
• Provides services within agency service area as scheduled
• Informs the Pediatric RN Supervisor of changes in the patient’s condition, immediately
• Counsels the patient, parent in meeting nursing and related needs
• Participates in in-service programs
• Receives orders from physician or his representative according to policy
• Orientation of co-workers
• Other assigned duties as desired by the DCS and Director of Pediatric Operations
• Other duties as requested by the employee

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
• Has three years nursing experience preferred
• Pediatric Home Health experience is preferred
• Currently licensed as a licensed vocational nurse in the State of Texas
• Complies with accepted professional standards and practice
• Ability to demonstrate assessment and skills in caring for a pediatric client for Pediatric RN Supervisor
• Knowledge or experience with gastric button feeding and care
• Knowledge or experience with ventilators, tracheostomy and care
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
