Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced board-certified Pediatric Intensivist to join our PICU team. The role involves sharing 24-hour shifts (roughly 7–8 per month) in a collaborative, supportive environment with subspecialists across pediatrics.

The team currently includes physicians and APPs; the hospital offers strong administrative support and opportunities to contribute to policy and quality improvement, with non-unit meetings held virtually as needed.

What We Offer

Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital’s PICU is seeking an experienced board-certified Pediatric Intensivist, ideally 3-5+ years out of training, to join our highly collegial team. NH Hemby Children’s Hospital is a pediatric hospital-within-a-hospital with an 8-bed PICU, 30-bed pediatric unit, and 6-bed intermediate care unit. The PICU also provides a sedation service and has strong support from pediatric subspecialists, including neurosurgery, surgery, hematology/oncology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, infectious disease, allergy/immunology, pediatric anesthesiology, and a Level IV NICU.

The team currently includes 3 physicians and 4 APPs and is seeking a fourth physician to share 24-hour shifts, approximately 7-8 shifts per month, often scheduled in 2-3 day blocks. One APP provides coverage from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Average daily census is approximately 4 patients. Some administrative responsibilities are included, such as policy, quality improvement, and transport meetings, typically held virtually on non-unit days. Our greatest strength is our collaborative and supportive culture. We work seamlessly with specialists, nursing, APPs, and ancillary teams to provide excellent care to our pediatric patients.
