Job summary

Aya Locums is seeking a locum Hospitalist Pediatric physician for an immediate assignment in Eureka, CA. The position offers a 24-hour on-call shift with 2 short-period schedules, starting 10-16-26 and lasting two weeks.

The role requires MD or DO, board certification in internal or family medicine, and an active California license, with ACLS. You’ll provide inpatient care, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure safe discharge planning.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Residency in internal medicine or family medicine (ACGME or AOA).
• Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine.
• Active and unrestricted California medical license.
• Current ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the care of hospitalized patients from admission to discharge planning.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with specialists for complex cases and comprehensive care.
• Document care thoroughly in the EMR.
• Conduct daily rounds to assess progress and update treatment plans.
• Perform procedures as needed when no local critical care physician is on site.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans to patients and families.
• Respond to emergencies with immediate medical intervention.
• Work with case managers to develop discharge plans.
