Job summary

Healthcare United is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist for a newly created position in East Central Illinois, targeting a January 2027 start.

This opportunity features an outstanding block schedule of approximately 5 days on / 10 days off, providing exceptional work-life balance while delivering inpatient pediatric care within a supportive regional health system with an active emergency department and newborn service.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
• Eligible for or active Illinois medical license; January 2027 availability.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Expected base salary range $250,000 – $300,000+.
• Approximately 5 on / 10 off block schedule with generous time off.
• Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.
• CME days plus annual CME allowance.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care for pediatric patients from admission through discharge
• Attend deliveries and provide newborn resuscitation as needed (NRP required)
• Manage newborn nursery care and pediatric admissions from the ED
• Support emergency department pediatric consultations
• Coordinate care transitions with outpatient pediatricians and specialists
• Collaborate with nursing and ancillary teams on pediatric quality initiatives
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
