Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist Job Summary

Beacon’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology program provides comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of blood disorders and cancers. The oncology service actively manages 30–40 patients at any given time, while also supporting a large population of patients who are off therapy. Additionally, this group receives approximately 200 new hematology referrals annually and provides ongoing care for around 80 children with sickle cell disease, in addition to many others with chronic benign hematologic disorders.

In close collaboration with Riley Children’s Health, Beacon’s pediatric oncology physicians work seamlessly with a broad network of physician specialists to ensure access to the full spectrum of treatment options. This partnership enhances the depth and breadth of care available to our patients.

As the region’s only designated children’s hospital, Beacon Children’s Hospital serves as a referral center for 29 hospitals across Southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana. Beacon Children’s PICU is actively engaged in several national multicenter quality improvement initiatives, including the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes program through the Children’s Hospital Association and the Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) initiative. Work Schedule:
  • The physicians work in the outpatient clinic and cover an inpatient service, along with support from a strong pediatric hospitalist team.
  • Call is shared equally among the physicians.
Leadership Role Opportunities:
  • Affiliation with Indiana University School of Medicine at Notre Dame and Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency allows for teaching of residents, medical students and supervision of post‑graduate trainees.
  • The program has a strong working relationship with regional academic centers and collaborates with these centers frequently when caring for patients. We provide an opportunity to participate in limited medical student/resident education and clinical research.

You will join a dedicated and collegial team comprised of a board-certified pediatric hematologist‑oncologist and two highly skilled nurse practitioners. This multidisciplinary care team is further supported by an experienced and deeply committed group of certified pediatric oncology nurses and administrative professionals, all working together to deliver compassionate, high‑quality care.

The practice features private, spacious patient rooms thoughtfully designed to comfortably accommodate families, allowing them to remain by their child’s side throughout the course of care.

  • Specialized pediatric ground and air emergency transport teams, ensuring safe and timely transfers for critically ill children.
  • Dedicated outpatient Pediatric Hematology Oncology Social Worker and Child Life Specialist.
